Project Management Strategies for Humanitarian Action

International solidarity is still the only opportunity to overcome a humanitarian crisis, in many countries.
The main objective of a humanitarian project is to defeat the violation of human rights and create a strategic plan that aims to the recognition of human dignity without contaminating or trampling local cultures.

STEP 1
For this reason, before designing an activity that aims to the socio-economic development of the entire community, it is essential to embrace anthropological study in order to understand the reasons that led that community not to develop economically which include war, conflicts, or environmental disaster that destroyed their balance and peace.
 
STEP 2
It’s highly recommended the contribution of external bodies to succeed in the objective of enhancing local resources of the territory where humanitarian action is needed and at the same time bringing to light the fundamental human rights.
 
STEP 3
it is appropriate to bring support to the most affected and vulnerable groups using emergency management strategies, implementing disaster management policies through health intervention projects for livelihood recovery in order to reduce the cycle of poverty.
The responsibility of humanitarian organizations consists in taking charge of the project and commit to promoting sustainable development initiatives, which mainly leverage local resources and the involvement of the entire community, without any gender or ethnic inequality.
 
There are various areas in which a humanitarian project can be supported.
1) Financing existing literacy activities.
2) Promoting health prevention activities.
3) Coordinating Humanitarian Advocacy.
 
Furthermore, the collaboration between NGOs and institutions is one of the required and strongest foundations to raise social awareness by following training paths both in the educational and legislative fields, thus integrating into the social context with the aim of maintaining high protection measures that promote diversity, equity, equality, and social inclusion for the preservation of the most disadvantaged communities.

Flavia Tavano is the President of the humanitarian organization Demetra Onlus which for the past 15 years has been fighting in Italy and abroad against all forms of child exploitation and gender-based violence. Flavia Tavano is a Human Rights Activist and Humanitarian Response Expert who has been designing humanitarian projects including fundraising events with the aim of raising awareness about global social issues. Flavia Tavano is also an international sculptor and painter. She runs the renowned family Art Foundation Tavano Arte, originally founded by her dad Sebastiano Tavano. Sebastiano Tavano's artworks are displayed in Italian public structures, in numerous Italian and foreign private collections. His high and low relief ceramic panels and wall restorations are permanently exhibited in 17th-century churches.
